The taxation department further stated that Khan was asked to provide a record of the residence last month and that Khan did so. The provincial tax collecting agency claims that after calculation, a luxury tax challan for Rs. 1,440,000 was delivered to the ousted prime minister. Who was ousted from office by a vote of no-confidence in April of last year.

Khan was required by the notice to pay 3.6 million rupees in luxury tax arrears. Sources claim that the notice was delivered to Zaman Park by a two-person team consisting of Inspector Amna Rashid and ETO Adeel Amjad from the Excise and Taxation Department.

The warning was delivered to Imran Khan’s late mother’s Zaman Park home. According to a notification made accessible to The News. His late mother was a housewife who died of cancer in 1985, around 38 years ago. She still owns the property.

Adeel Amjid, an excise officer, told The News that if the notification is not followed, an ex-parte assessment will be carried out. He continued by saying that if Khan doesn’t cooperate. The department won’t approach the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), as doing so is outside of its purview.

He also rejected the element of political victimisation and added that the department had decided to go through an assessment of all luxury homes of two or more than two Kanals.
