Every year on February 5, Pakistan celebrates Kashmir Day to remember the plight and sacrifices of Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The federal government this week declared February 5 a national holiday across the country, with the Cabinet Division deciding to observe a one-minute silence at 10 a.m.

Today, the Sindh government issued a notification commemorating Kashmir Day.

The nation expresses solidarity and support for the residents of the Indian-occupied valley.

The Kashmir issue remains a source of contention between Pakistan and India, with Islamabad repeatedly pressing the international community to organize a plebiscite on the disputed territory.

The conflict sparked global concern after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi unilaterally revoked Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, which granted special status to the IIOJK on August 5, 2019.

Pakistan has additionally affirmed that it won’t enhance relations with its nuclear neighbor unless Kashmir’s special status is reinstated.
