According to a statement made on Sunday, Canadian police have arrested a man for attacking Muslims inside a mosque in the city of Markham.

According to witnesses, a male suspect entered in a car and drove straight at one of the worshippers while uttering threats and derogatory terms about religion. The suspect then accelerated recklessly in the parking lot before fleeing the scene. The incident is being investigated as a possible hate crime.

Sharan KARUNAKARAN, a suspect from Toronto who is 28 years old. He has been charged with various crimes by investigators of the York Regional Police 5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau.
