Edwards, BBC presenter accused of ask UK girl for pornographic picture
Huw Edwards was identified by Vicky Flind, the veteran broadcaster’s wife, as the nameless BBC presenter who is charged with paying a more than £35,000 in exchange for “pornographic pictures.”
She did add, though, that Edwards had recently been hospitalized for a significant mental health episode and will address the charges after his recovery.
According to the BBC, Edwards is being accused of “yet more allegations” from his coworkers at the UK-based broadcaster, which are not just related to the present controversy.
Three people have come forward, two current coworkers and a former BBC employee, alleging they were sent “inappropriate” communications by the presenter.
One person claimed they received flirty texts, while another felt it was “an abuse of power” to send them messages.
While The Sun, the publication that broke the story of the explosive accusations that an anonymous BBC presenter had paid money to a then-17-year-old now-20-year-old, indicated it has “no plans” to publish additional allegations, two UK police forces abandoned their preparations to prosecute Edwards.
According to the reporters, the Metropolitan Police and South Wales Police examined the complaints against the BBC presenter but decided against taking any further action because they had no evidence that criminal offences had been committed.
Despite the most recent accusations, according to the Met Police, its specialised crime command “concluded their assessment and have determined there is no information to indicate there has been a criminal offence committed.”
The BBC and the Met were contacted, according to the South Wales Police, and “no criminality was identified” in the matter.
