Versatile actress Sanam Jung returns to TV in Hum TV’s ‘Pyari Mona’.
Pyari Mona, which premiered today (Thursday), is a unique television show that does not glorify unhealthy relationships or “saas, bahu” issues while providing a much-needed break with its compelling plot and strong female lead.
Hum TV has always excelled in tackling such problems by creating relatable characters and discreetly delivering the message while maintaining the entertainment component to keep the public interested.
Television is a Crucial Medium for Highlighting Delicate Issues
The main character in the serial is Mona, a strong, brave, overachiever girl who excels in everything she does.
However, because Mona is plus-sized, she has to deal with challenges, issues, provocations, and taunts because she doesn’t meet the conventional standards of beauty established by our society.
Serial emphasizes body shaming, bullying, and harassment as well as the social and mental effects they have on the victim in a culture that places strict standards on appearance and has unreasonable expectations for women.
The unique and captivating tale of Mona as she makes her way through life is Pyari Mona.
The serial also stars Mashal Khan, Adnan Jafer, Muhammad Hunbal, Naureen Mumtaz, Uzma Baig, Shaheen Khan, and others.
The serial was written by Haseeb Ahmed, directed by Ali Hassan, and produced under the name of Momina Duraid Productions.
Will Mona overcome the challenges or give in to the social norms and expectations?
Every Thursday at 8 p.m. on HUM TV, watch Mona’s tale to find out.
