The Indian entertainment website reports that the mega-hit film The Legend of Maula Jatt by actor Fawad Khan will be released in theaters on September 20 for India fans.

According to the report, sources close to the film say that Zee Studios will likely release The Legend of Maula Jatt in India. It should be noted that anti-Pakistan extremists have threatened not to release the Pakistani film The Legend of Maula Jatt in India.
The film’s two main characters, Maula Jatt and Noori Nath, played by actors Sultan Rahi and Mustafa Qureshi, gained extraordinary fame.
Previously, Pakistan’s most successful film, TLOMJ, was scheduled to be released in India in December 2022. However, due to resistance from Hindu far-right parties including the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), the film’s release was canceled in India.
Following its international success, talk is rife that a big Indian film production business, likely Zee Studios, intends to premiere this much-anticipated picture in India on September 20, 2024, India Today said.

A Punjabi-language action drama film directed by Bilal Lashari and starring Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mahira Khan, and Humaima Malik was released globally on October 13, 2022. The film, which made Rs400 crore at the box office globally, is a remake of Nasir Adeeb’s 1979 film ‘Maula Jatt’.
The last Pakistani film to have a theatrical release in India was Bol, starring Mahira, in 2011. The previous film was Ramchand Pakistani (2008), starring Nandita Das and Rashid Farooqi. Fawad was in the ensemble cast of Khuda Kay Liye, which also starred Naseeruddin Shah.
However, Pakistani films have been exhibited at Indian film festivals. In November of this year, the Dharamshala International Film Festival screened Saim Sadiq’s Joyland, Pakistan’s official entry in the international film category at the 95th Academy Awards.
