Tragic Colombian jungle plane crash on May 1 claims multiple lives.
However, amidst the devastation, a remarkable story emerged as four children were miraculously found alive. President Gustavo Petro referred to them as the ‘Children of the Jungle.’
After enduring five weeks following the plane crash that claimed the lives of seven people, the children, aged 13, 9, 4, and an infant of 12 months, managed to survive.
They belong to a Huitoto community near the border of Caqueta and Guaviare provinces. On Saturday, they were transported to Bogota for medical treatment.
The children’s grandparents expressed their joy upon receiving the news and mentioned that the older siblings possessed survival knowledge in the rainforest.
President Gustavo Petro hailed their survival as a historic event, proclaiming that they were now not only the children of the jungle but also the children of Colombia.
