Cyclone Biparjoy expected to hit Kati Bandar, Sindh, 11 am Thursday.
According to sources, Cyclone Biparjoy hit Kati Bandar at 11 am today. Gawazir disclosed during a press briefing in Islamabad that more than 66,000 residents of coastal areas of Sindh have been shifted to safer places.
He urged the public to help the authorities and assured them that aid organizations are ready for relief activities.
The minister stressed that the cyclone will have the most impact in Thatta, Sajawal, Badin, and Tharparkar districts while also stating that Buparjoy is emerging from Karachi.
According to the latest updates from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Cyclone Biparjoy has changed its track away from Karachi.
At present, it is about 370 km south of the city. The storm has been moving in a north-northeast direction for the past six hours, and it is currently located at latitude 21.7°N and longitude 66.4°E.
According to the Meteorological Department, it is about 370 km south-southwest of Karachi, 355 km south-southwest of Thatta, and 290 km south-southwest of Keti Bandar.
This storm was earlier located 340 km south of Karachi.
