There is a possibility of a retaliatory attack by Israel against Iran.
Israel three-member war council is now discussing how to respond to Iran nighttime barrage of drone and missile attack, which has sparked fears that regional tensions may rise and eventually turn into a full-scale war.
With the authority to decide on the best course of action following the attack, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stressed that the crisis was still ongoing, saying, “This event is not over yet.”

While applauding the unusual interception of the attempt, Gallant emphasized the need to be prepared for any eventuality. In line with this idea, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “We have intercepted, we have contained.” We will succeed together.
An Israeli official told CNN that although Israel is still prepared to strike again, the precise nature and scope of its action have not yet been decided. The official emphasized Israel’s strategic considerations of weighing decisive action against a gradual response.
Iran Launching Counterattack
The likelihood of Iran launching a counterattack had been growing ever since an alleged Israeli attack on an Iranian diplomatic outpost in Syria earlier this month. The planned attack came to pass late on Saturday, when more than 300 projectiles about 170 drones and 120 ballistic missiles were fired in the direction of Israeli territory.
With help from allies including the US, the UK, and France, Israeli officials reported successfully intercepting most of the projectiles; nonetheless, a 10-year-old child suffered significant injuries from shrapnel that was intercepted.
Iran, meanwhile, sent out a strong warning, admonishing against any additional assault. President Ebrahim Raisi declared that any careless acts by Israel or those who support it would provoke a strong and decisive reaction, which might involve more extensive attacks on Israeli land. Iran further demanded that the US abstain from supporting any military action by Israel.
