Renowned scholar that is religious Maulana Tariq Jameel came under criticism on social media platforms on Sunday, a day after his trip to a Sikh religious site in Kartarpur, the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib.
While visiting Kartarpur Sahib on Saturday, Maulana Tariq Jameel was join by a group of religious academics.
They were welcome by Sardar Gobind Singh, the head granthi of the Gurdwara Sahib, as well as by Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, a member of the Punjab Assembly.
A briefing on Kartarpur was also provided to Maulana. He was inform that Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh faith, had lived his final 18 years in monotheism rather than idolatry.
He was told that Baba Guru Nanak advocate for fraternity and humanity.
He received gifts from the Gurdwara Sahib administration, including Saropa and Kirpan.
The religious expert visited the Sikh pilgrims at their sacred location and spoke with them as well.
Maulana Tariq Jameel, who spoke at the event, emphasized that Islam preaches respect for the sanctities and rights of minorities.
Kartarpur is the path to peace, he declared. In Pakistan, minorities have complete religious freedom.
The visit, however, prompted criticism on social media as images from it were share on various platforms.
