A robot implanted a chip in a patient’s brain in Saudi Arabia

Successful use of robot to implant EEG chip in Saudi epilepsy patient.

According to a foreign news agency, the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia was able to implant chips in the patient’s brain using a robot after traditional methods failed to cure the patient’s epilepsy.

Conventional treatment could not cure the patient’s epilepsy. To detect epilepsy, doctors implant an EEG chip in the patient’s brain, which will eventually be removed. This has been done for the first time in the Middle East.

Through 2 mm incisions in the skull, electroencephalography chips are inserted into the brain using this technology. This is done to assess electrical activity within the brain and pinpoint the location of seizures.

In computing the necessary measurements and selecting suitable areas for drilling, robot technology has demonstrated superiority over the traditional “lexical frame” method. Additionally, the old method takes twice as long and is labor intensive.

It should be emphasized that robots can be used in a number of surgical procedures for neurological disorders in addition to just implanting brain chips.
