Bangladesh became the largest Exports of Garments to the EU for the First Time.
According to a report by Mets Global, Bangladesh has secured the first position in knitwear Exports to the European Union during January to September 2023.
Bangladesh knitwear imports to the EU are higher than any other country in terms of dollar value and weight, the report said.
The report said that in a period of 9 months, the European Union imported knitwear worth $9 billion from Bangladesh, which was more than $8.96 billion from China.
The president of Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association said that in terms of weight, Bangladesh exported 571 million kg of knitwear to EU countries compared to China’s 442 million kg.
He said that one of the reasons for Bangladesh’s outstanding performance among EU countries in knitwear is the recent investment in high-value-added goods, especially activewear.
