Faisalabad win first match of the year, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2023–2024.
At Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore Whites and Lahore Blues played for the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, but the former was unable to bowl out the latter in the second batting innings, resulting in a draw. Peshawar was defeated by Karachi Whites by a score of 116 runs. The game between FATA and Rawalpindi was a tie.
Faisalabad vs Multan
After 52 overs, Multan had a 155-5 total and was ahead by 119 runs. They scored 66 runs in the opening session before being dismissed for 221.
As a result, Faisalabad was instructed to chase 186 on the last day. Mohammad Huraira and Azeem Ghumman, the openers, set the tone for the chase by combining for 63 runs. The team maintained control of the chase even as wickets were lost.
Asif Ali, an experienced batter, maintained his form from the previous batting innings by scoring an unbeaten 42, which gave his team the victory.
After pursuing the score in 51.3 overs, they prevailed by a margin of five wickets.
Lahore Blue vs Lahore White
Lahore Blues had a score of 61-2 in 26 overs at the start of the day’s play, with Rizwan Hussan and Umar Siddiq at the crease.
A 92-run partnership between Umar and Rizwan, followed by a 47-run partnership between Umar and Hussain Talat, allowed the Imran Butt-led team make up the gap brought on by the opposition’s enormous total amassed. The renegade Qasim Akram effectively gave the team the lead with an undefeated century.
It was determined that the game would not have a clear winner after the Blues were 329-8 in the game’s final session of play.
As a draw was announced, the captains exchanged handshakes.
Peshawar vs Karachi Whites
Sarfaraz Ahmed and Aftab started the day at the crease for Karachi. The scoreboard indicated 249–6. Sarfaraz declared the innings when he reached 329 and invited Peshawar to attempt to reach 360 in the game final innings.
Peshawar, which was trying to reach a high total, got off to a rough start. The opener, Israrullah, failed to score more than one run, and the captain, Sahibzada Farhan, was taken out after reaching 28 runs. A 68-run partnership between Kamran Ghulam and Waqar Ahmed gave their team some impetus, but it was short-lived since the skilled spinner Abrar Ahmed dismissed both of them before they could do any real harm.
After then, the Sahibzada-led team struggled on the crease and was unable to maintain any strong partnerships. The spinner attempted to keep the game alive for his side while batting alongside Imran Khan Snr. Sajid Khan, who had earlier been forced to retire hurt, came to bat at the finish.
They were eventually bowled out for 244 runs, resulting in a 116-run victory for the Sarfaraz-led team.
FATA vs Rawalpindi
After batting for eight overs the day before, Rawalpindi resumed the following day at 16-0. The Umar Waheed-led squad enjoyed an outstanding start to their innings as they chased a massive total of 400.
Before Zeeshan Ahmed made the game-changing run, the openers Hasan Raza (79) and Abdul Fasih (65), had an excellent partnership that had amassed 140 runs. Despite occasionally losing wickets, Rawalpindi’s scoreboard never stopped. Their cause was aided by a half-century from Haider Ali and a 33-run blast from Mubasir Khan.
Although the Khushdil-led team thwarted the opposition’s intentions, Rawalpindi was adamant about resisting. Akif Javed’s four-wicket haul destabilized Rawalpindi, but not enough to result in their defeat.
After 98 overs, Rawalpindi reached 293-7, and the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy game was declared a draw.
