Amjad Islam Amjad, Literary Genius in Pakistan Passed Away at 78

Pakistani poet-dramatist Amjad Islam Amjad pass away at 78 in Lahore.

Amjad Islam Amjad was born in Lahore on August 4, 1944. From the University of Punjab, he received his Masters in Urdu in 1967.

He was hired in 1968 to teach Urdu at the MAO College in Lahore. He stayed there as a professor until 1975.

He was appointed the Punjab Arts Council’s deputy director in August of the same year.

He has had a significant role in the literary world

Varis, Din, Fishar, and many other well-known dramas are only a few of his works.

He got an award for his well-known TV play Khuwab Jaagtay Hain in 1975.

He also translated the Urdu poetry collection Kale Logon ki Roshan Nazmein by African writers.

Amjad Islam Amjad has written more than 40 books over the course of a 50-year career and has also been awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz.

For his literary works and TV screenplays, he has won numerous accolades, including Pride of Performance.

The dramas “Waris,” “Dehleez,” “Samandar,” “Raat,” “Waqt,” and “Apnay Log” are just a few of his well-known productions.

The NA speaker’s office continued, “Despite numerous summonses, PTI members did not arrive and sought acceptance of resignation.

When Ashraf approved the resignations, “PTI members then objected the decision, which was unconstitutional,” according to the statement.

The development comes after the LHC postponed the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision to denotify 43 PTI MNAs earlier this week and prohibited the election oversight body from organizing by-elections in those constituencies.

The court also suspended the NA speaker’s notification that allowed the legislators from the former ruling party to quit, and it sent letters to the relevant quarters asking for their responses.

On Thursday, however, the speaker states that he has not yet receive the LHC’s order and that any subsequent course of action would only be decide after he has.

The NA Secretariat subsequently requested that the PTI members postpone their attendance at the meeting until the court issued a written order.

In a video post on Twitter by the NA’s official account earlier, the speaker, seen responding to a question about his views surrounding speculations that some of PTI’s MNAs may be have interest in returning to the lower house.

Without providing many details, Ashraf had said as the LHC’s order was not in front of him, he could neither read it, nor had any details on the matter shared with him.

NEPRA Reduced Electric Tariff by Rs 10.80 Per Unit

Islamabad: NEPRA announces Rs 10.80 per unit reduction for K Electric.

According to the notification issued by Nepra, the reduction in electric rates of K Electric was done in the month of December due to Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA), K Electric has requested Nepra to reduce the electricity tariff by Rs 10.26 per unit as a fuel charges adjustment (FCA).

The notification states that the relief will not be applicable to lifeline consumers, consumers up to 300 units, agricultural consumers, and electric vehicle charging stations, meanwhile, the relief will be applicable only for one month.

Last month, K-Electric (KE) submitted an application to Nepra for a reduction of Rs 10.26 per unit in fuel charges adjustments (FCAs) for the month of February 2023.

According to a K Electric spokesperson, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) will hold a public hearing on January 30 to reduce electricity rates. With the approval, K Electric customers will get relief in February electricity bills.

The spokesperson of Wahid Power Company of Karachi further said that the production cost of electricity from RLNG and furnace oil has been reduced by 17 and 15 percent respectively.

NADRA New CNIC Policy Issued

NADRA issue Computerized National Identity Cards to Pakistani citizen.

National Identity Card (NIC) is the computerized counterpart of CNIC.

National Identity Card System of Pakistan

Pakistan introduced its National Identity Card system in 1973 under Article 30 of the Second Amendment. The card was issued manually in a handwritten paper form by the Directorate General of Registration (DGR) The first such NIC was that of the then Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

After the establishment of NADRA, the National Identity Card (NIC) was shifted to Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC). In which the applicant needs to provide digital fingerprint biometrics for issuing an ID card. NADRA later launched the Smart Card (SNIC) in 2012, a chip-based identity card that captures the bio-data of cardholders in English.

New card-making policy

NADRA has issued a new policy for making a new identity card, now the card will be issued under this policy.

The points of the policy are listed below

1. NADRA has abolished the power of verification held by former and future chairmen and councilors.

2. For the new CNIC or form (B), the condition of the birth certificate is over, the matriculation certificate is over, and the card will be made on the passport or domicile.

3. No need to go to the gazetted officer, the cardholder will be able to self-verify the form of his father, brother, or any family member.

4. Must have matriculation certificate, passport, domicile, and NIC of parents.

5. Women will not need a marriage certificate for the card. The wife’s card will be made on the husband’s card, and only a stamp paper of 20 rupees will be applied.

6. Citizens of FATA will be able to make cards from any city.

7. In case of loss of the card, there is no need to file an FIR, a new card will be obtained by giving a stamp paper affidavit of loss.

8. To receive the card, one has to go to the office with the original token. If a relative goes, take the authorization letter from him and the card will be received.

9. No need to advertise in newspapers for a name change, the NADRA officer will interview and give comments for a new card.

Artist Abdullah Siddiqui, wrote PSL official anthem for this season.

Following his collaboration with Atif Aslam and Aima Baig on “Agay Dekh,” the anthem for PSL 7, Siddiqui will write the Pakistan Super League anthem for the second consecutive season.

The PSL announced on its official Twitter account that Asim Azhar, Shae Gill, and Faris Shafi will perform this year’s anthem. Rap will be incorporated into the song by Faris Shafi.

Ali Sethi, the son of Najam Sethi, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, previously sang the PSL 8 song.

The creators of Pasoori were slated to compose the anthem for this year. However, in order to avoid a conflict of interest, Najam, a two-time former PCB chairman, opted to cancel the deal involving his son.

Pasoori, which was tremendously well-liked worldwide, was performed by Ali and Shae in Coke Studio season 14 of the show. Former PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja hired the Pasoori team to write the anthem.
