SC Orders Government to Ensure February 8 General Elections

Supreme Court mandates government to ensure elections Feb 8 elections.

The court issued its orders during the hearing of several pleas that sought to hold elections on schedule and within ninety days of the assemblies’ dissolution.

Updated news indicates that President Arif Alvi and Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja reached a unanimous decision on the aforementioned date during a meeting earlier on Tuesday at the President’s House.

A three-judge panel, led by Chief Justice Isa and including Justices Athar Minallah and Amin-Ud-Din Khan, heard the case.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has also announced the general election date, and the court mentioned in its ruling that no political party opposes holding elections on February 8.

Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa asked everyone in the courtroom, including Pakistan’s Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan, if they had any objections to the election date. But, everyone responded negatively, according to the most latest news headlines.

CJP Isa stated, “The Election Commission should announce the election schedule after fulfilling all requirements.”

“Elections will be held on February 8, InShallah,” declared the chief justice.
