Traveling to Canada is about to get a complete lot easier.
Starting Oct. 1 2022, the country is dropping all covid entry and travel restrictions. That means visitors will no much longer be asked to show proof of vaccination, get tested, submit health information through an official site that is online report symptoms, isolate or quarantine, or wear a mask on planes or trains.
Public health authorities said several factors led to the end of pandemic-era rules, including vaccination that is high; low hospitalization and death rates; new vaccine boosters; and models that suggest the country has passed away the peak of infections from the BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants.
“Since the start, our Government has taken the necessary steps to keep Canadians safe when confronted with a pandemic that is global” Marco Mendicino, minister of public safety, said in a statement. “COVID-19 border measures were always suppose to be temporary and we are making changes based on the problem that is present that’s what Canadians expect.”
Canada had a record for international tourism in 2019, with about 22 million visitors year.
The nation stopped requiring vaccinated travellers to show proof of a test that is negative April, but kept the vaccine mandate in place. Visitors could still be select for screening upon arrival.
Officials still suggest that tourists wear top-quality masks and forgo travel if they have coronavirus symptoms. Those who do arrive ill in Canada should inform some one like a flight attendant, cruise line worker or border officer, the nationwide government said.
