Cher, Goddess of Pop, admits disliking her music and voice.
The 77-year-old singer Cher periodically criticized her own work while discussing her new album, Christmas.
“Well, I enjoy this album. Though I don’t like Cher, I enjoy performing it. I think this worked out when I listen to [Christmas],” the woman said.
Cher acknowledged that she would have preferred to have a different voice if she had the option, but she was forced to use her mother’s voice.
The well-known singer said, “It doesn’t sound like a man, it doesn’t sound like a woman,” in criticism of the vocalist’s tone. I’m more of an intermediary. I have a peculiar style.
The well-known performer, who won accolades from all around the world, claimed that she never liked the way she sung and that her songs were always loved by the crowd.
Cher described her own voice as “edgy and different,” drawing a comparison between it and her mother’s “soft” voice.
The Believe hitmaker referred to her style of singing as “strange,” stating, “I pronounce my Rs incorrectly. That’s what you do when you can’t hold a note.” I suppose I just have to leave some consonants free because they’re difficult to sing.”
