Donald Trump formally arrested in New York, facing criminal charges.
When his supporters chanted outside the courtroom on Tuesday. Donald Trump, the front-runner for the Republican nominee in 2024, arrived to be formally charged.
As he waved to the throng outside the courthouse after being driven there in a motorcade from his New York residence at Trump Tower. 76-year-old Donald Trump could be seen wearing a dark blue suit and a crimson tie but he was otherwise expressionless.
From his limousine, Trump shared the following on social media: “moving towards the courthouse in Lower Manhattan. That all seems so surreal — OMG, they’re going to BE ME. I find it hard to accept that this is taking on in America.”
Before his arraignment before Justice Juan Merchan, Trump was scheduled to report to the office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. A defendant can make a plea at an arraignment after hearing the accusations. Donald Trump had his fingerprints taken, but no mugshot was taken.

Trump continued to criticise Merchan, who oversaw the trial where Trump’s real estate company was found guilty of tax fraud last year. In other social media posts before the arraignment.
Trump, who was president from 2017 to 2021, said in November that he will run again for the office in 2024 in an effort to deprive Democratic President Joseph Biden, who defeated him in the presidential election of 2020, a second term in office.
