ECP directed re-polling at 53 polling stations in 3 constituencies.
On Thursday, the election commission of Pakistan (ECP) ordered a re-polling at 53 voting places across three national and provincial assembly constituencies.
The ECP spokeswoman reportedly told Radio Pakistan that the commission withheld the results in the seats of PK-90 Kohat-I, PS-18 Ghotki-I, and NA-88 Khushab because polling materials were wasted.
After February 15, the outcomes of these constituencies will be made public.
After a mob at the Returning Officer’s office set fire to polling materials, the Commission ordered re-polling in 26 NA-88 polling places.
Due to the theft and destruction of 25 voting places in PK-90 Kohat and 2 polling stations in Ghotki by unidentified miscreants, the commission has ordered a re-election.
The chief election commissioner should retire, according to Sirajul Haq of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), and an independent commission should be established to conduct a thorough investigation of the electoral process. Sirajul Haq has blasted the recent election results as being tainted by widespread manipulation.
Speaking to reporters during a press conference on Saturday in Mansoorah, he highlighted the significant manipulation of the Karachi people’s mandate in favor of the MQM, even when surveys that were ostensibly neutral showed a close race between candidates endorsed by the PTI and the JI.
