“It was a misleading problem, individuals can return inside,” the source said on the Eiffel Tower bomb threat.

The Eiffel Tower gets a normal of around 20,000 to 25,000 guests each day.

Police and bomb-disposal experts were searching the area, including an eatery that was located on one of the levels, according to SETE, the organization that manages the facility.

“It’s a standard system in this sort of circumstance which anyway is uncommon,” a representative said.

Guests were emptied from both the three stories and the square under the landmark not long after 1:30 pm (1130 GMT).

The Tower’s construction began in January 1887 and was finished on December 31, 1889. 2,000,000 people visited it during the 1889 World’s Fair.
