Pakistani Govt announced an increase in prices of petroleum products.
This increase in the prices of petroleum products is expected to have a significant impact on the general public, particularly those who use private vehicles for transportation.
The price of petrol has been raised by Rs5 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel has increased by Rs13 per litre, and kerosene oil has increased by Rs2.56 per litre. This price hike comes after the government had reduced petrol prices in February 2023.

The price of kerosene oil has been raised to Rs190.29 per litre. It is worth mentioning that the price of light diesel has remained unchanged.
The cost of transportation is likely to increase, leading to a rise in the prices of essential goods and services.
In February 2023, the government had reduced petrol prices by up to Rs5 per litre. The Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar, had announced the price cut in a televised address, lowering the cost of petrol to Rs267 per litre from the existing Rs272 per litre.
However, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) remained unchanged at Rs280 per litre.
