Pakistani Arrested for Preventing Quran Desecration in Sweden

Pakistani man detained in Sweden for attempt to stop Quran mutilation.

Salwan Momika, an immigrant from Iraq, was given permission to violate the Holy Quran in front of the Pakistani consulate in Stockholm by the Sweden police.

Shehzad Malik, a Swedish national of Pakistani descent, managed to get through and attempted to stop Momika as he began to carry out his plan in front of numerous police officers.

Malik kept insisting that he wanted to stop Momika, so the cops detained him and hauled him away. Malik claimed that the incident had wounded him and that he had attempted to stop it, but that he had been arrested by police.

He claimed that when he was detained, his clothes, shoes, and purse were examined for an hour. The police asked him to reveal his ID card, which was subsequently photographed, after learning that he was a Swedish citizen.

He was finally released by the police, who assured him that they would contact him again. Malik can be sentenced to jail time or pay penalties if found guilty in a case. Malik urged that the planned sacrilege of the Holy Quran be stopped and that the Swedish authorities do something about it.

Momika has made previous attempts to blaspheme the Quran. In addition to planning a sacrilege in front of the Swedish parliament earlier this month, he carried out the heinous deed on June 28 in front of a mosque in Stockholm.
