PCB Offers Shahid Afridi to Continue as Chief Selector till World Cup 2023

Afridi likely to stay as PCB chief selector; Mickey Arthur seek month.

Umar Gul, a former Pakistani pacer, has emerged as one of the leading candidates for the position of bowling coach. According to information obtained from the PCB’s hallways, Afridi has been offered the position of chief selector through the 2023 World Cup.

Afridi serves as the interim CS at the moment, but the PCB wants the former captain to continue in that role for an additional 10 months till the World Cup in India in November.

Given that Pakistan has two major events this year, the 50-overs Asia Cup and the World Cup in India, discussions have taken place about the possibility of the former captain continuing in the role, a source said.

The source stated that Shahid had discussions with PCB Chairman Najam Sethi, who had first persuaded him to serve as an interim chief selector.

Afridi has reportedly expressed a willingness to join the team that will choose the coaching staff. Members of the temporary selection committee include former cricketers Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum in addition to Afridi.
