Fernando Botero, a Colombian painter who gained international fame for his works, has died at the age of 91.
Fernando’s daughter Lena confirmed her father’s death on Friday and revealed that he had contracted pneumonia.

The celebrated artist has been hailed by local media as one of Colombia’s greatest artists of all time, and has declared a week of mourning in his hometown of Medallin.
Fernando, who was born in 1932 and was the son of a traveling salesman.
Fernando documented torture at the US-run Abu Gharib prison in Iraq in the 2000s.
According to Sotheby’s Auctions, any Botero painting or sculpture has fetched more than $2 million.
