SSGC suspends gas supply to Karachi industries till February 28, 2023.
According to the Ministry of Energy’s (Petroleum Division) gas load management strategy, which prioritizes home and commercial clients, all general industries will suspend gas by SSGC from November 15 to February 28, 2023, the business stated in a statement.
The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and seven other industrial town organizations released a united statement in response to the decision, claiming that businesses are shocked by SSGC’s notices of gas closure.
The KCCI claimed to have established a committee to address the issue and was looking to the government to take the required actions to guarantee the city’s businesses have access to gas.
It is important to note that the Secretary of the Petroleum Division recently warned the National Assembly Standing Committee that the country might experience up to sixteen hours of gas load shedding during the winter.
The strategy for managing the wintertime gas present to the Petroleum Division, and the Managing Director of SSGC informed the committee. Domestic users will have precedence for gas delivery, he noted.
It is important to note that due to a gas shortage, all CNG stations in Sindh have already close for 2.5 months.
