‘Titanic’ (1997) with DiCaprio and Winslet returns to Netflix in July.
On July 1, according to HuffPost, the movie will be available on Netflix once more. The news followed the deaths of five crew tourists on the Titan submersible operated by Ocean gate Expeditions, which travelled 12,000 feet beneath the surface of the Atlantic Ocean to examine the Titanic ruins.
It’s unclear whether the decision to add Titanic to Netflix came before or after this week’s Titan submarine disaster, but some on social media have said the streaming service “could’ve picked a better time” and that it was capitalizing on the tragedy to boost viewership.
The film, which centers on a made-up relationship between an aristocrat and an artist on the Titanic, is currently streaming on Paramount+ and Amazon Prime.
The Titanic catastrophe could have been prevented, according to Titanic director James Cameron, who claims to have spent more time aboard the ship than her captain.
Just one hour and forty-five minutes into its descent, the Ocean Gate Expeditions submersible lost contact with its surface ship while its route to the Titanic debris. The Coast Guard revealed on Thursday, or June 22, that subaquatic debris had been discovered at a depth of about 12,500 feet.
CEO of Ocean Gate Stockton Rush, British billionaire Hamish Harding, French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood, and Suleman Dawood, an adolescent, were all on board the vessel.
