According to family sources, he was buried in North Karachi cemetery after offering funeral prayers at a mosque in Sector 5C2, North Karachi.
Along with painting, Akbar was a renowned actor and sculptor who produced numerous monuments. He was of the opinion that sculpture should have its own identity within Pakistani culture.
