Inzamam-ul-Haq added in his statement that he had resigned to allow an open inquiry and would return to the post of chief selector if the committee found him not guilty.

However, a PCB spokesperson said the organization respects and recognizes Inzamam-ul-Haq’s choice to voluntarily resign while the investigation is ongoing.
On August 7, 2023, former captain Inzamam ul Haq was named the Chief Selector of the National Men’s Selection Committee. Earlier this month, he was named the chairman of the junior men’s selection committee.
