Winter Vacations Extended in All Schools of Lahore

Lahore High Court extends school winter vacations due to pollution.

Details indicate that Justice Shahid Kareem made the decision to extend winter vacations from 2 January to 8 January after hearing petitions about the current pollution. All public and private schools and institutions in Punjab, including Lahore, are presently on winter break, it is important to note.

The academic year was supposed to commence on January 2nd, therefore Lahore’s schools’ winter break began on December 24th and was supposed to go until January 31st.

In light of the deteriorating pollution conditions in Lahore, the LHC requested last week that the School Education Department (SED) think about extending winter holidays from one week to two weeks.

The Punjab government announced three weekly breaks for Lahore’s public and private schools earlier this month due to the prevalent pollution. Up till further notice, there will be three holidays every week.

All Lahore public and private schools would be closed every Friday and Saturday, according to a statement from SED. The third holiday will be the recognized Sunday holiday.

As a result of pollution is rampant in the second-largest city as well, the metropolis has maintained its ranking as one of the most polluted cities. When there is poor air quality, people often have breathing difficulties, coughing, itching, and red eyes, especially children and the elderly.
