Google hosts 7 WTM event in Pakistan, training 1,550+ women developer.
The events aim to empower and support women in tech by providing leadership, technical skills, and networking opportunities to overcome unique challenges. Google is partnering with local Women Techmakers Ambassadors to host seven events in Pakistan aimed at empowering and supporting women in tech.
Women Techmakers initiative is a global program that provides resources, community, and visibility for women in tech.
The events will consist of rallies, workshops, networking opportunities, and conferences to provide training in various entrepreneurship areas such as leadership, technical skills, and overcoming challenges faced by women in tech. The first event kicked off on March 8, International Women’s Day, with the theme #DareToBe, encouraging women to dream big and take risks.
The Women Techmakers Ambassador program aims to support women in tech who are looking to make an impact and give back to their communities. The ambassadors will engage with their communities by participating in leadership activities quarterly.
Farhan S. Qureshi, Google Regional Director for Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, said, “These events, in collaboration with Women Techmakers (WTM) Ambassadors, don’t only recognize the accomplishments of women in tech, but will also encourage more women to join the fast-growing tech industry.”
Last year’s attendee, Manahil Qureshi, said, “The speakers’ sessions were filled with power-packed talks on Education, Women’s Workforce, Community Building, and future prospects for women in tech in Pakistan. The speakers fired up the event with interactive discussions and some interesting Q&A sessions. The vibe of the event was so warm and positive.”
