Rahat Fateh Ali Khan pays homage to Sidhu Moose Wala during qawwali.

Rahat Fateh Ali dedicated his qawwali performance to the late Indian rapper Sidhu Moose Wala on the first anniversary of his death.

The brutal murder of Moose Wala in broad daylight shocked India and Pakistan alike. Subhdeep Singh Sidhu, born in Moosa village in Mansa district, studied engineering in Punjab before moving to Canada in 2016.

Last May, Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in the Mansa district of India’s Punjab state. The 28-year-old singer was killed while driving near his village in Punjab state by unidentified assailants.

Assailants opened fire on him while he was in a jeep. The attack also injured two other people. Moosewala and the other injured were taken to Mansa Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Dr. Ranjeet Rai, a civil surgeon in Mansa, told the reporters that Moosewala died at the public hospital.
