Pakistan’s Foreign Office issued a statement following the recent boat crash, saying that the Pakistani mission in Greece was in contact with the Greek authorities to identify and recover the dead Pakistani nationals and help the survivors.

The number of people crossing illegally to Europe by sea has increased recently as more people choose the dangerous sea routes in search of greater economic opportunities in Europe.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistani envoys are still in touch with Greek authorities to identify the 78 bodies found in the crash.
He suggested the families of the passengers contact the Pakistani mission in Greece and explained that the identification process would involve immediate DNA matching with family members.
According to recent media reports, up to 500 people may still be missing from the plane that tragically capsized, and sadly the majority of those missing are women and children.
