Icon of the Seas, Called “Monstrosity”

Icon of the Seas inaugural journey in January labeled a “monstrosity.”

Online critics assert that the largest cruise monstrosity in the world is creating the same hype as the Titanic did on its inaugural voyage.

With an internal volume of 250,800 gigatons (GT) as opposed to 46,328 GT, the ship is five times bigger than the Titanic, according to the journal.

In statement, Royal Caribbean International President and Chief Executive Michael Bayley said, “We are promoting it as the perfect family holiday and when you stand back and look at all the energy and time that has gone into constructing this ship it is mind-blowing.

The ship will have nine whirlpools, seven pools, and the biggest water park at sea, known as “Category 6″ due to its record-breaking six slides.

The lowest ticket for the seven-night cruise departing from Miami in September 2024 to the western Caribbean costs $1,851; the most expensive ticket costs $10,864.

The ship has 19 floors, the same height as a building in New York City, and can accommodate about 5,610 passengers and 2,350 staff members.

On June 22, the vessel finished its initial round of tests, according to a press release from the company.

“During her first set of sea trials, Icon of the Seas travelled hundreds of miles, during which the main engines, hull, brake systems, steering, noise, and vibration levels were all tested,” according to the statement. “Despite her departure being delayed due to wind conditions, everything was completed on schedule.”

Online detractors have noted that a bigger ship does not necessarily imply a better ship.

In response to a picture of the new cruise ship, one user tweeted, “As visions of hell go, that’s pretty much the most hellish,” while another added, “I’m sorry but this is a nightmare.”
