Iran execute five men by hanging for gang-raping a woman in northwest.
On Wednesday, the judiciary’s Mizan Online website reported that the “five men who had kidnapped and gang rape a woman in the city of Marand in May 2022 were executed.”
The individuals, who were detained four days after the gang rape in the province of East Azerbaijan, were involved in other crimes, Mizan stated without going into further detail.
Iran killed three men last month who were found guilty of raping patients they had put under anaesthesia for after enticing them to a phoney cosmetic surgery clinic.
In late 2021, Mizan reported that they had been found guilty of planning several instances of sexual assault in the southern province of Hormozgan.
Amnesty International, a human rights organisation, claims Iran hangs more people than any other countries save China and that at least 582 people were executed by hanging last year, the most since 2015.
According to Amnesty International, Iran’s government has “significantly increased the number of executions overall for all crimes, with at least 282 people executed in total so far in 2023.”
According to the report, the amount is almost two times as high as the number of executions that were reported at the start of June in 2017.
