CPPA proposes Rs2.07 hike in power tariff for fuel price adjustments.
If approved, the rise in power rate due to the fuel price adjustment for electricity used in July will last for one month. On August 30, the Nepra will hear the appeal.
The CPPA submitted a petition to the Nepra claiming that 14.29 percent of total power was produced by nuclear facilities, 14.68 percent by coal-fired plants, 07.61 percent by natural gas, and 37.18 percent by hydropower plants.
The increase will add to the strain currently being placed on power users by rising electricity prices.
On the federal government’s request, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) announced earlier in July a significant hike in the base power tariffs of up to Rs7.50 per unit.
