Marsh and Warner record breaking partnership shines against Pakistan.
The pair, playing at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium, shattered a previous World Cup stand against Pakistan by West Indies’ Brian Lara and Desmond Haynes back in 1992, with an amazing 259-run combination.
It is important to note that this is the first World Cup encounter in which a side has combined to score 200 runs against the Men in Green.
In the World Cup 2023 encounter taking place at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the Australians, batting first, went on the rampage against the Pakistani bowlers. The openers scored hundreds of runs before they removed one.
Given that Pakistan took late wickets in the game, the Australians had a lofty objective in mind.
Shaheen Shah Afridi removed Marsh after he scored 121 runs off 108 balls. The pacer also dismissed Glenn Maxwell for a duck. Usama Mir later removed Steven Smith (7) from the game.
In the meantime, Warner emerged as the World Cup batter with the most runs scored against Pakistan. With the aid of nine sixes and fourteen fours, the left-handed batter scored 163 off 124 balls.
Prior to Warner, Australian Andrew Symonds had won the big event in 2003 against Pakistan with a score of 143.
The squad captained by Babar Azam has won two of the three games it has played so far, whereas Pat Cummins’ team has only won one of the three games it has played in the competition.
