Pakistan Introduces New Grading System for Matric and Inter Exam

IBCC introduces new matric and inter exam grading system nationwide.

The IBCC announces that it will release the results of the annual exams for classes 9 and 11 in 2024 using the new grading system.

It is important to note that the previous system was based on a 7-point grading system (A-1, A, B, C, D, E, F), but the new system is a 10-point system (A++, A+, A, B++, B+, B, C, D, E, U).

According to the IBCC, the goal of the new system is to stop students, parents, and institutions from competing to get the best grades possible. The new 10-point grading system aims to enhance the assessment and evaluation of students.

According to Pakistan latest news IBCC Chairman Ghulam Ali Mallah stated that they wished to remove the concept of race for marks from the students and give them a better education while addressing a workshop today focused on the implementation of the new grading scheme for Sindh examination boards.

“The event shows the Sindh Examination Boards’ commitment to embracing progressive changes aimed at enhancing the quality of education and assessment and witnesses an overwhelming response,” Mallah continued.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK), Sharaf Ali Shah, asserted that both teachers and students would find the new grading system easier. He went on to say that the system was implemented globally.

He continued, “It is essential to modify our assessment systems in light of the changing nature of education in order to better meet the needs of our students.”

It’s important to note that because the study plan remains the same, this modification to the grading policy does not affect the qualifications.
