Babar Azam has announced to quit the captaincy of all three formats.
In a message on the social media platform, Babar Azam announced his resignation and said that it was a difficult decision for me but I am happy with this decision. I will continue to play for Pakistan but will not captaincy continue.

He wrote that he would extend his full support to the new captain going forward. Pakistan won the first position in ODI cricket under my captaincy.
Babar Azam thanked the Pakistan Cricket Board for giving him the captaincy and said, I still remember the day when I was awarded the captaincy in 2019. I have experienced many highs and lows during my captaincy.

During earlier discussions with Zaka Ashraf at the National Cricket Academy, it was decided to retain Babar Azam as captain for the tour of Australia.
