The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will complete the printing of ballot papers by February 2, but the distribution of ballots has already started in all four provinces.
The ECP had started the printing of ballots from January 16 after the announcement of general elections across the country on February 8 and the allotment of election symbols.
Preparations for the conduct of general elections are fast approaching completion and printing of ballots is progressing satisfactorily while printing of papers in three government presses is in progress.
He added that 270 tonnes of special paper is being used in the current printing process. Balochistan and Sindh constituencies are being printed in Karachi, while the official printing office in Islamabad is printing ballots for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Islamabad constituencies.
The spokesperson said that three separate machines will be used to produce the ballot papers, which will be emblazoned with unique watermarks. The Printing Corporation has maintained strict security protocols at its locations while printing the ballot paper.
During the 2018 general elections, the nation implemented watermarked ballot papers, marking a significant milestone.
Three printing presses, including Security Printing Corporation, Pakistan Postal Foundation, and Printing Corporation of Pakistan, are being used for this work.
