5 years since Operation Swift Retort, which led to capture of pilot.
It has been 5 years since Operation SWIFT RETORT attributed to thwarting the infiltration attempt in Pakistan and arresting Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman.
On February 2019, India violated Pakistan’s airspace in the name of a surgical strike in the dark of night. India declared the surgical strike a success and claimed that Indian planes targeted a training camp of terrorists and killed around 300. Terrorists have been killed.
On February 27, 2019, the next day after the Indian invasion, the Pakistan Air Force responded to India and shot down the Indian aircraft during a brief air clash. During this, the Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman was also captured alive. The operation was named “Operation Swift Retort”.
A video of detained Indian pilot Abhinandan also went viral in which he praised Pakistani tea, the hashtag ‘Tea is Fantastic’ was trending on social media for several days.
In a statement issued by the ISPR, it was said that 27 February 2019 is an important event in our history, on this day the determination of the people of Pakistan and the professionalism of the armed forces were demonstrated.
The ISPR further said that the armed forces effectively rebuffed Indian claims, “We will continue to emphasize the importance of peaceful co-existence with our neighbours, but respond strongly to any aggression against our sovereignty and territorial integrity.” will be given.
