Former captain Bismah Maroof announced her retirement from cricket.

Left-handed batter Bismah Maroof debuted against India in the ODIs in 2006 and against Ireland in the T20Is in 2009. She went on to play for Pakistan in 276 international matches, which is the most of any female cricket player from Pakistan.

She has scored 6,262 runs in international cricket, including 33 half-centuries, and taken 80 wickets with her right-arm leg-spin.

“I want to express my gratitude to my family, who have supported me throughout my cricket journey, from the very beginning until now,” stated the former captain.

“I also want to express my gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board for giving me the opportunity to show off my abilities and for believing in me.

The PCB’s assistance has been important, especially in putting into practice the first-ever parental policy for me, which has allowed me to serve as a mother and the highest ranking representative of my country.

Finally, I want to express my gratitude to my fellow teammates, who I now consider family. I will always treasure the friendship we had, both on and off the field.

Additionally, the southpaw led the team in 96 international games as captain. She played for Pakistan in four ICC Women’s 50-over World Cups (2009, 2013, 2017, and 2022).
