Babar Azam said that leading the national team has been an honor for me, captaincy has been a beneficial experience but now I want to focus on my game.

He also thanked his fans for supporting him during his leadership.

It should be noted that Babar Azam resigned from the leadership of the national team in the first round of the ODI World Cup last year.

In his place, fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi was appointed as the captain, but in his limited tenure, he too could not lead the Pakistani team to victory and then he was also removed from the leadership this year.

Pakistan Cricket Board

Later, the Pakistan Cricket Board decided to create separate captains for Test and Limited Overs cricket and in this regard, Shan Masood was entrusted with the leadership of the Test team.

After Shaheen, the draw was once again in the name of Babar, and in March this year, he was appointed as the captain of Pakistan’s ODI and T20 team.

However, after almost six months, he has again resigned from the leadership position.

It is also worth mentioning here that since resuming the leadership, the batting form of Pakistan’s renowned batsman has been badly affected and he has not been able to play any big innings all this time.

Babar Azam was advised by several former cricketers and other quarters to leave the leadership and focus on batting given the team’s failures along with the continued poor form.
