Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain takes note of Rs. 1,500 monthly bus fee.
According to the details, he has directed the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) to immediately withdraw the order and stated that no such fees will be imposed on students. As a result of various protests and complaints from students’ parents, the FDE has prohibited colleges from charging a bus fee.
In this regard, Dr. Ikram Ali Malik, Director-General (DG) of FDE, presided over a meeting where serious concern was expressed about the bus fee because the decision placed an additional burden on parents, risking students dropping out of school. As a result, the government’s campaign to educate out-of-school children may have been jeopardized.
Furthermore, the FDE has directed all educational institutes and their management committees to stop collecting bus fee immediately.
Previously, the College Management Committee (CMC) of the Islamabad Model Colleges announced a Rs. 1,500 monthly bus fare for students, which would be paid quarterly.
It issued an official notification and warned students that if they do not pay the fee on time, they will be unable to travel on school/college buses.
