PTI Workers Clash With LEAs

Protests against the murder attempt on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan continued for the second day in several districts of the garrison city.

Clashes between PTI workers and law enforcement forces raged on for a second day at the Faizabad Interchange, with the police resorting to heavy shelling to disperse the demonstrators.

Following the directions issued by the PTI leadership, the workers arrived at Murree Road and attempted to enter the federal capital via Faizabad, where Islamabad police and FC officials first asked them to return using loudspeakers.

As the demonstrators approached the Faizabad Interchange, they began throwing stones at the police, prompting the FC officials and federal police to retaliate with heavy shelling.

To avoid shelling, the demonstrators continued to flee toward Murree Road and neighboring highways. After an hour of fighting between the LEAs and the protestors, the protesters congregated on the roadside to avoid the heavy rain in the twin cities.

On Saturday, demonstrators participating in the march totally blocked traffic heading to Faizabad from Murree Road and from the IJP Road to Islamabad, causing serious hardships for citizens.
