Pakistani Awais Munir has qualified for the finals of Asian Snooker.
Awais Munir faced veteran and defending champion Amir Sarkoosh of Iran in the semi-finals of the ongoing Asian Snooker Championship in Qatar.
However, the Pakistani player showed the best cue control and defeated the opponent by four. Outclassed by one and missed out on their fourth consecutive final and fifth overall.
Awais won the first frame with a score of 36-57, but in the second frame, Amir Sarkosh made a brilliant comeback and did not allow Awais to putt a single ball. 80-0 defeat in the second frame.
After leveling at one apiece, Awais once again took control of the game and qualified for the final by winning the next three frames by scores of 17-75, 47-67 and 32-69.
Awais Munir is the first Pakistani cueist since 2015 to qualify for the final of the Asian Snooker Championship. In 2015, Pakistan’s Hamza Akbar won the title by playing the final of the event.
