Ban on Meeting Imran Khan in Adiala Jail lifted

The ban on meeting Imran Khan and other prisoners in Adiala Jail has ended.

ISLAMABAD: The two-week ban on meeting PTI founding chairman Imran Khan and other prisoners in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail has been lifted.

Prisoners in Adiala Jail will be able to visit from Thursday.

In view of the security concerns, the Punjab government had issued a notification on March 12, banning the entry and exit of Adiala Jail for 14 days.

Adiala Jail Superintendent Asad Javed Waraich confirmed that the ban period has ended.

Party President and former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, Imran Khan, PTI Vice Chairman and former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and all other prisoners in the jail will be able to meet their visitors as per standard from Thursday.

Two weeks ago, the police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) carried out a coordinated operation in response to a tip-off, thwarting an attack near Adiala Jail and nabbing highly skilled terrorists.

The intention of the terrorists was to attack important facilities like Adiala Jail. In addition, two threatening calls were received on official prison phone numbers.
