The US State Department’s human rights report for Pakistan praises the country’s 2018 Transgender Persons Protection of Rights Act. However, the report also points out that Pakistan’s police need to prioritize the prevention of violence against transgender people. The report notes that public venues in Pakistan are less likely to hold events for transgender people than religiously-based anti-LGBTQI+ protests.
