PM Shehbaz Takes a Private Flight to London

PM Shehbaz Sharif depart’s for London after COP27 summits in Egypt.

Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb tweeted the update, stating that the PM Shehbaz had boarded a private aeroplane for a “private visit via the British capital.”

The PML-N eldest brother Nawaz Sharif has lived in London since November 2019, and Maryam Nawaz joined her father there in October. As a result, there has been conjecture that the premier’s journey to the city will result in significant choices.

Shahbaz has made three trips to London Since becoming PM

PM Shehbaz has visited London three times since taking office as prime minister of the nation in April. This trip was planned to coincide with the appointment of the next army leader because General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s term as chief of army staff is slated to expire on November 29.

In fact, Power Minister Khurram Dastgir confirmed the earlier claims that PM Shehbaz would discuss Nawaz on the nomination.

Violating The Official Secrets Act

Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, reacted angrily to the accusations by denouncing the PM for violating the Official Secrets Act and breaking his oath of office by talking about the next army chief’s nomination with his older brother.

Previously, in September, the premier had been to London, principally to represent Pakistan during Queen Elizabeth II’s burial.

Additionally, at the time, it was claimed that PM Shehbaz had spoken with Nawaz about a possible appointment in November, which was probably the choice of the next army chief.

He returned with PML-N leader and current finance minister Ishaq Dar, as well.

Dar, who had been living in self-imposed exile in London for over five years, took Miftah Ismail’s place as the nation’s finance czar after months of rumors that he was being favored for the position by some of the party’s top executives.

Early Elections

Before that, he had initially visited his brother in May with a group of federal ministers. At the time, it was claimed that the team led by the PM had asked Nawaz for advice on several important choices, including whether to call early elections or not.

In the end, the ruling coalition refrained from calling for immediate elections and gave in to Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI.

UAE and Egypt Agree To Construct One of The Largest Wind Farms in The World

UAE and Egypt presidents witness the signing of an agreement for one.

The Wind farms project would be Masdar’s largest one yet, according to the company, which has a portfolio of renewable energy assets with a combined value of more than $20 billion and a total capacity of more than 15 GW.

The 10 GW farm would generate 47,790 GWh of clean energy per year while reducing 23.8 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, or around 9% of Egypt’s current CO2 emissions.

Masdar CEO Mohamed Jameel al-Ramahi stated, “With this agreement to create our largest-ever project, Masdar is happy to boost our commitment to Egypt’s renewable energy aspirations.

On the fringes of the ongoing COP27 climate meeting in the Egyptian seaside city of Sharm El-Sheikh, Masdar Chairman Sultan al-Jaber, who is also the UAE’s special climate envoy, its industry minister, and the head of state energy company Adnoc, signed the deal on Tuesday.

As the UAE gets ready to host COP28 next year, Jaber said in the statement, “The UAE and Masdar will continue to assist Egypt’s net-zero targets and we will attempt to push forward the advances established here at COP27.”

Wind Farms Will be a Component of Egypt’s Green Corridor Plan

When finished, the wind farms will be a component of Egypt‘s Green Corridor plan, a system devoted to renewable energy projects that aims to have 42% of the nation’s energy mix from renewable sources by 2035.

Egypt will save $5 billion annually on natural gas expenditures thanks to the wind farms project. According to a yearly report from Egypt’s renewable energy authority, the country’s installed electricity capacity was around 59.5 GW in 2019/2020.

According to Mohamed Mansour, the chairman of Infinity Power, the joint venture between Masdar and Infinity, “the project will enable the country to save vast amounts of natural gas; thereby attaining economic growth, reducing carbon emissions, and providing greater access to sustainable energy sources.”

In order to collaborate on the construction of 4 GW green hydrogen production facilities in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and along the Mediterranean coast, Masdar and Hassan Allam Utilities signed two memoranda of understanding in April with state-backed organizations in Egypt.

A green hydrogen production plant capable of producing 100,000 tonnes of e-methanol yearly for bunkering in the Suez Canal will build as part of the project’s first phase and operation by 2026, according to the statement.

According to the report, the electrolyzer facilities may be increased to a maximum of 4 GW by 2030, producing 2.3 million tonnes of green ammonia for export in addition to supplying green hydrogen to nearby companies.

PTI Protest Continues to Cause Hardship for Twin City Residents

PTI protest in Rawalpindi against attack on Imran Khan disrupts life.

Around midday, the City Traffic Police issued a press release stating that PTI Protest on both trains had stopped the Old Airport Road. The roadblock forced the traffic to take detours to other roads.

It claimed that demonstrators had blocked Pirwadhai Mor in the direction of IJP Road as well as Murree Road near Iqbal Park on both sides. According to the traffic police, protesters have stopped Sarai Kala Chowk as well as the GT Road near Margalla.

Traffic snarls were caused by these detours throughout the city.

According to Zeeshan, a resident of Kallar Syedan, his cousin was scheduled to leave Pakistan on Monday, but because of blockages, he had to pay Rs. 1,500 to travel from Golra Mor to Islamabad International Airport in order to catch his flight.

Similarly, since the protests began on Monday, thousands of citizens, including kids, traders, patients, and vendors, have been experiencing difficulties. Families, kids, and older folks spent hours each day in traffic jams as a result of these demonstrations.

PTI protesters Couldn’t pass Ambulances

In some cases, the PTI protestors wouldn’t even let ambulances pass through while their sirens were blaring. Even media professionals experienced harassment from the protesters for highlighting issues the public was having as a result of PTI supporters’ roadblocks.

“What is my responsibility,” a Mansehra resident who was stranded in Pirwadhai due to traffic jams retorted, “when I am not being permitted to transport my sick mother to a hospital for an operation.”

PTI Officials Blocked Traffic

Along with a few supporters, PTI officials Fayyazul Hassan Chohan, Raja Rashid Hafeez, and Sheikh Rashid Shafique blocked traffic on Murree Road to organise a demonstration at Shamasabad. The protesters yelled epithets critical of PDM leaders such Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Along with failing to rescue the stranded citizens, the traffic and Rawalpindi police watched passively. On Tuesday, the City Traffic Police helpline received a deluge of calls from members of the public asking for assistance in clearing the roads, but no one listened.

Our country was established for these people who have made our lives miserable, an elderly woman who was criticising PTI supporters for blocking highways in a video stated. After three hours of hardship, I finally arrived here. Standing next to the PTI camp in Shamsabad, the elderly woman grumbled.

Public Holidays

Even though the Pindi administration had declared public holidays on November 8 and 9 in the tehsil in preparation for protests, several institutions were still open, leaving parents of schoolchildren torn between sending their children to school or not. Having recently moved to Pakistan from Saudi Arabia, an expatriate family was considering returning since they believed that these conditions made it unsafe for their kids to attend school.

Similarly, business owners who had suffered losses as a result of the protests urged that the government compensate them and grant them holidays if it were unable to deal with the “daily recurrence” of protests.

The business community also voiced its displeasure with the state of law and order in the twin cities and requested that the police and district administration intervene to repress the demonstrators.

The PTI supporters’ road roadblock continued till dusk, and the public continued to experience problems.

Census Postponed For Four Months

Census Postponed for Four Months

Govt announces four-month delay in the seventh census due to economic.

The Census decision was made during a meeting of the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics on Monday, which was presided over by Minister of Planning Ahsan Iqbal.

The timing of the declaration, which comes amid the ongoing PTI “Azadi March” calling for hasty elections to remove the country’s uncertainty, would undoubtedly send shockwaves across the political spectrum.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Planning, Iqbal asked the PBS to present a new report to the Council of Common Interests (CCI) and the Prime Minister’s Office, along with a new timeframe for the 7th Digital Census 2022.

The government has set the new dates for the 7th housing and population census as February 1 to March 4, 2023. Previously, the field surveys were scheduled from October 15 to November 15.

The statement came after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf put pressure on the government and establishment to accede to its demand for hasty elections. Its workers stopped major highways and roads on Monday, causing major issues for ordinary commuters, many of whom have nothing to do with the PTI and PML politics. N’s

The minister was updated on the status of the population census, and the PBS head informed him that an earlier summary was presented following an agreement with NADRA for the conduct of the census from October 15, 2022, to November 15, 2022.

“However, due to the delay in the opening of Letters of Credit as a result of the current economic circumstances, NADRA is unable to issue tablets,” the planning ministry said. Due to the dwindling position of foreign exchange reserves, the central bank has imposed limits on the opening of letters of credit.

According to the Planning Ministry

The timetables have been changed, and fieldwork will now take place from February 1, 2023, to March 4, 2023. The results of the post-enumeration survey would be handed over to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) by April 30, 2023, for delimitation reasons.

The ECP would need at least three to four months to demarcate constituencies, which will overlap with the conclusion of the National Assembly’s five-year constitutional term in August next year.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s last cabinet agreed to hold the next general elections on the basis of a fresh census after Sindh expressed severe objections about the previous census findings and grudgingly accepted them.

Last Monday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet backed the previous government’s decision and authorised an Rs5 billion budget for the census.

Census Software Solutions

According to the government, the entire 126,000 tablets for holding the census digitally would be given out in instalments by December 2022 and census ERP (total software solutions) by October 15, 2022, for testing.

According to the planning ministry, due to the sensitivity of the topic, the PBS altered the training of master trainers and training of trainers at the divisional level in November and December 2022.

However, because training at the tehsil level for 120,000 field employees and fieldwork cannot begin before the entire transfer of tablets, the ministry has decided to perform programmes in parallel.

Iqbal expressed worry over the extension of the deadline for the population census and requested that the PBS notify the Council of Common Interests (CCI) and the Prime Minister’s Office as soon as possible owing to the sensitivity of the subject. He further stated that any additional delay is unacceptable because the next elections would be based on the results of the Census.

The minister further instructed PBS to guarantee the calibre of instruction at the Tehsil level. Since credible and trustworthy statistics depend on excellent training.

He suggested including HEC and academics in the monitoring of training at the Tehsil level. He believed that a neutral third party should conduct the assessment.

The PBS head further informed the Minister that NADRA had already delivered 22,000 tables for the census, which have been toughened and are now prepared for dispatch, and that the remaining tables will be delivered shortly. He informed the test that 21,600 more tablets will arrive at the PBS this week and would shortly begin the hardening process.

Further information revealed that the master trainers’ training will begin on November 28 and go through December 10, 2022. The process of self-enumeration will begin on January 15th, 2023.

The Minister gave the order to move the process along quickly and firmly follow the new deadlines while bearing in mind how sensitive the subject is.
