US Congress delegation visits COAS Gen Bajwa

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee led a five-person US delegation that met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa to show support for Pakistan’s flood victims.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the conversation covered issues of shared interest, the state of regional security, and bilateral cooperation in a number of fields (ISPR).

The US team expressed their sadness over the damage caused by the most recent floods in Pakistan and their deepest sympathies to the families of the flood victims. They pledged to provide the people of Pakistan with aid during this difficult time.

However, the US officials acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to uphold regional stability and pledged to do their part to enhance cooperation with Pakistan on a variety of fronts.

The COAS expressed his appreciation for US aid and reaffirmed the necessity of help from Pakistan’s foreign allies for the rescue and rehabilitation of flood victims.

A day earlier, the US delegation led by Congress Representative Sheila Jackson Lee met Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman and vowed to help flood-affected people of Pakistan.

According to details, Sherry Rehman meets US Congressional delegation and apprised them of the current relief efforts and the assistance required for rehabilitation of the flood affected areas and population.

Suresh Raina, an Indian cricketer, finally ended his IPL and domestic career on Tuesday by declaring his retirement from all formats of the game.

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni, the 35-year-old cricketer announced his retirement from international competition on August 15, 2020.

The 35-year-old cricketer claimed on Twitter that it had been an honour for him to represent both his state of Uttar Pradesh and India internationally.

“It has been an absolute honour to stand up for my nation and state of UP. I’d like to declare my retirement from all cricket formats “Tuesday saw a tweet from Raina.

Raina will now be able to compete in events like the Road Safety Series and international T20 leagues, according to ESPNcricinfo.

Raina retires having scored 6,871 runs in 109 first-class games, 8,078 runs in 302 list A games, and 8,654 runs in 336 T20 matches.

He began his senior domestic career for UP back in 2002-03 and made his international debut in 2005. Raina played 226 ODIs, 78 T20Is and 18 Tests for India, and was part of the squad that won the ODI World Cup in 2011. He was the first Indian batter to score a century in all three international formats.

FAP Chairman Malik Bostan said the dollar’s fee had risen due to elevated demand for the dollar for duty-free vegetable imports from Iran and Afghanistan.

He said the federal government must be sure that dollar being bought for imports were not “misused”.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is observing Defence and Martyrs’ Day on Tuesday to pay homage to the nation’s martyrs and victors and to reaffirm its dedication to defend the motherland against all threats.

A graceful wreath-laying ceremony was organised at Mazar-e-Iqbal, Garrison Commander Major General Muhammad Shahbaz Khan offered fateha and paid his respects to the great poet and philosopher.

General Officer Commanding Major General Malik Muhammad Amir Khan also laid a floral wreath at Major Shabir Sharif Shaheed’s (Nishan-e-Haider) grave to pay homage on Defence Day at Lahore Miani Sahib Graveyard.

A lot of serving and retired army officers attended the ceremony. Family members of Major Shabbir Shareef Shaheed had been also present at the event.

Major Shabir Sharif is the one Pakistan Army officer who received both the Nishan-e-Haider and Sitara-e-Jurat for his bravery.

PEMRA bans the transmission of BOL News

Pemra close BOLchannel in Islamabad due to lacking security clearance.

According to a public statement, the decision in question was made at the Pemra Chairman Muhammad Saleem Baig-presiding body’s 174th meeting.
The licences of M/s Labbaik were revoked by Pemra in its 131st meeting of 2017 as a result of the company failing to obtain security clearance from the Ministry of the Interior, it was revealed during the meeting. However, after contesting PEMRA’s order in the Sindh High Court, which decided the case in 2021, the channels continued their broadcast.

It was mentioned that Pemra’s attorney had made it clear that neither channel would be permitted to go on air if the Interior Ministry did not grant M/s Labbaik security clearance.After going over all the documents pertaining to the court’s orders and the letters sent out by the Interior Ministry, the media regulatory body ordered that transmission of both BOL channels cease.According to the media watchdog, M/s Labbaik did not submit any applications for the licence renewal of BOL Entertainment, which was set to expire in December 2021.Imran Khan, the chairman of the PTI and a former prime minister, reacted to the news by saying that Shehbaz Sharif’s coalition government had suspended BOL because it had given his party coverage.

Teenage Pakistani climber aims to surpass Indian climber’s record

Karachi: Eisha Sajid, a 16-year-old rising alpinist from Pakistan, has her sights set on climbing Nepal’s Mt. Manaslu, which rises to an elevation of 8,163 meters.

Eisha has already arrived in Nepal for her mission, which she plans to finish by the end of this month.

If she is successful, she will surpass the record set by Indian Arjun Vajpai in 2011 when he ascended Manaslu at the age of 18.

Shehroze Kashif, who ascended Broad Peak at the age of 17, will no longer hold the record for being the youngest Pakistani to climb an eight-thousander.

November 30 will mark Eisha’s 17th birthday.

Eisha, a military officer’s daughter, intended to climb the broad peak in July but was forced to call off her expedition because of bad weather and rockfall.

Eisha will be travelling to the Manaslu summit with the assistance of world record holder Nirmal Purja of Nepal, according to Karrar Haidri, secretary of the Alpine Club of Pakistan.
