British Army Chief to Visit Pakistan Today

Gen. Patrick Sanders will touch down in Pakistan on a five-day visit.

The long-standing defence deal between Pakistan and the UK permits the visit. During his stay, Gen. Patrick Sanders British Army Chief is set to meet with Gen. Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff.

At the meeting, topics pertaining to bilateral defence cooperation would be covered.

Earlier this year, COAS Asim Munir travelled to the UK and met with Gen. Sanders to talk about the two countries’ cooperation.

General Patrick Sanders will take part in various meetings and activities concerning defence in addition to the meeting with his Pakistani counterpart, General Asim Munir.

During the visit, defence cooperation to address climate change will also be explored.

General Sir Patrick Sanders is in Pakistan one year after the terrible floods there, according to the British High Commission’s spokesperson.

Over 33 million people were impacted by the flood, which inundated one-third of the nation.

At the request of the Pakistan Army Chief, the British Ministry of Defence sent 10 generators and eight boats to the rescue efforts.

COAS Asim Munir visited the UK earlier this year from February 5 to February 9, during which time he attended the Wilton Park conference, spoke with defence officials, and paid a visit to General Sir Patrick Sanders.

It’s important to remember that this was Gen Asim’s first trip to the UK since becoming COAS.
